Computer Hobby Essay: The Future of Technology and My Role in It

Computer HobbyA Hobby That I Enjoy My favorite past time isto spend time at the computer, even at a tender age I like computersystems. To having a computer was a dream, an almost impossible dream. Ihad a friend named George at that time, we were in the same school, samegrade and we had a very good relationship. At that time he had a computersystem and we spend our free time playing games, printing greeting cards, banners, we also did our school home work. It was very nice and playfuleven then I yearned to own my own computer, so I could spend more timelearning how to use the computer. But I liked to have my own computer so Ican do my own printings and spend more time learning how to use thecomputer. One day my parents went for a trip without me because I was inschool at that time; so I stay with my grandmother for about five daysuntil my parents got back from their trip. When my folks return home theyarrived with a big box with no labels or printings on the outside of thebox. My parents always knew that I wanted a computer. I didn't know whatwas inside of the big brown box until the next day when I saw the computeron my homework table. It was the best day of my life, for that day mydream became reality. It was use but in good shape conditions and working. Now my favorite hobby is computers systems and instead of having a usecomputer, I have the latest computer and I like to spend a lot time makinggraphics programs, configuring systems in my new Pentium II 450mhzprocessor, and playing with my small network system that I have at home. Ialso like to alter pictures for example take one girl face out and put inanother girl or man face that no one would tell that particular picturewas altered. I like to write my essays on my computer because I have morefun, my mind is more relaxed and I thing better as oppose to writing withpen. At least it works for me. I'm gland my parents bought me the usecomputer then because now I know how to use it very well and it will beinside of me for the rest of my life which will help me a lot in thefuture. Who knows what would have happen if I didn't get the use computer

Using computer is fun and beneficial at the same time. What I do on computer is chat with friends, surf on the net, watch movies / tv shows, play games and things like that. I also read articles of subjects that interests me, mainly on Wikipedia. And I have to admit that these things have really improved my English a lot. English is the main language I have to face on the computer. And whenever I dont understand a word, I go to kaannos.com or similar website to find out. And while I am doing those things I have mentioned, I love to listen music from the computer at the same time.

So I think using computer is nice way to spend some hours. You can really benefit from it if you use it the right way. Some people make a fortune from the Internet. There is nothing you cant do on a computer.

Technology is something I have been passionate about. The attraction for technology and technical field is that technology has never failed to astonish me and grow my passion everyday more for it. I have been in the exact generation where I will be able to preserve up with and observe the impact of technology on the world. The utmost attractive aspect I find of technology is problem solving. Right since primary days at school, Mathematics has fascinated me. I permanently did and would thrive on cracking the utmost challenging problems. The greatest thought-provoking of all problems were my favourites and finding resolutions to them would permission me with a complete touch of ecstasy. This curiosity made me choose a technical field for gaining in-depth knowledge and never let my passion down. I want to own the knowledge in the field of Computer Science/ Data Analytics which would not only facilitate my path towards gaining excellent research and artificial intelligence/machine learning/business analyst **fields to be changed according to the course** skills but also assist me in achieving my goal of becoming an Entrepreneur while giving back to the community. It seems a thought-provoking area that I request to make essential contributions. I am an individual who partakes a deep passion and attraction for zones demanding an analytical slant. Through a gripping craving to outshine, hard work turns out to be my additional nature. This interest for technology and technical fields commended me to undertake the diploma course after my secondary school, at one of the best colleges in Mumbai, at Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Polytechnic. During my final year of diploma course in 2015, I got the opportunity to work with BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre) for their live project in developing an IT service help desk for the employees. This engaged me in languages like C, C++, Advanced Java Programming, MySQL, ColdFusion and Database Management Systems. I was involved in analysing employee requirements and designing the flow of project which have not only helped me in gaining the insights of technological aspects of the projects, but also improved my management/research skills and ability to work in a team and aroused my interest in the field of Information Technology and prompted me to delve deeper into these subjects. My objective for a technical vocation with a grade of 80.59% in diploma course, impelled me to gross up one of the most desirable undergraduate programs in Information Technology at Shah and Anchor Engineering College from the University of Mumbai. As the curriculum started, I commenced a keen interest in acquiring more knowledge in fields like Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Systems, Databases, Operating Systems and Computer Networks. During the sixth semester I came across the subject of data mining and business intelligence. This subject attracted me the most due to various algorithms and the strategies of analysis stories, case studies on predictive analytics and streamlining. I started involving myself into these topics. Amongst the foremost projects, one was the undergraduate degree project, in a group of four was an android based application- TravelMate that helps you explore various travel destinations find new travel buddies. During the project development, under the guidance of our project leader Ms. Archana Chaugule mam, she assisted us to come up with new concepts to design an algorithm for exhibiting best results to style the application in a unique and superlative way. This engaged me in numerous programming languages and in developing analytics algorithm for analysing the interest of travellers around the world which cultivated my interest in analytics and designing. I played a vital role in working on diverse analytical business models and travel inclinations, from where I acquired great amount of knowledge. We developed the application using Kotlin, Java, XML for the frontend and php & MySQL for the backend. I own industry-hardened assistances in computers, but I must shape on these to complete my goal of undertaking leading-edge investigation in Database, Analytics and Computer Networks. Remember: This is just a sample from a fellow student.

"An Open Letter to Hobbyists" is a 1976 open letter written by Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, to early personal computer hobbyists, in which Gates expresses dismay at the rampant software piracy taking place in the hobbyist community, particularly with regard to his company's software.

In the letter, Gates expressed frustration with most computer hobbyists who were using his company's Altair BASIC software without having paid for it. He asserted that such widespread unauthorized copying in effect discouraged developers from investing time and money in creating high-quality software. He cited the unfairness of gaining the benefits of software authors' time, effort, and capital without paying them as a rationale for refusing to publish the machine code for his company's flagship product, thereby making it available to lower-income hobbyists who could have borrowed such program listings from their local library and entered the program into their hobby computer by data entry.

In December 1974, Gates, a student at Harvard University, alongside Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, who worked at Honeywell in Boston, both saw the Altair 8800 computer in the January 1975 issue of Popular Electronics for the first time. They had both written BASIC language programs since their days at Lakeside School in Seattle, and knew the Altair computer was powerful enough to support a BASIC interpreter.[a] Both Gates and Allen wanted to be the first to offer BASIC for the Altair computer, and expected the software development tools they had previously created for their Intel 8008 microprocessor-based Traf-O-Data computer to give them a head start.[1]

By early March of the following year, Allen, Gates and Monte Davidoff, a fellow Harvard student, had created a BASIC interpreter that worked under simulation on a PDP-10 mainframe computer at Harvard. Allen and Gates had been in contact with Ed Roberts of MITS, and in March 1975, Allen visited Albuquerque, New Mexico, to test the software on an actual machine. To both Allen and Roberts' surprise, the software worked.[2] MITS agreed to license the software from Allen and Gates. Allen left his job at Honeywell, and became the Vice President and Director of Software at MITS with a salary of $30,000 (equivalent to $151,076 in 2021) a year;[b][4] Gates remained a student at Harvard, and worked under MITS as a contractor instead, with the October 1975 company newsletter giving his title at the company as "Software Specialist".[5] 2ff7e9595c
